  1. Extinct flying reptile of the order
  2. Pterosauria, existing in the Mesozoic age.
  3. Pterosaurs were formerly assumed to be
  4. smooth-skinned gliders, but recent
  5. discoveries show that at least some were
  6. furry, probably warm-blooded, and may have
  7. had muscle fibres and blood vessels on their
  8. wings, stiffened by moving the hind legs,
  9. thus allowing controlled and strong flapping
  10. flight. They ranged from starling size to the
  11. largest with 17 m/50 ft wingspan.
